A watchdog, Imo Awareness Coalition, IAC has advised the Imo State government, to quickly take proactive steps to improve the security situation in the State, in a bid to boost investor’s confidence in the already frail economy of the State.

The call came on the heels of co ordinated attacks on a Correctional facility and the Imo State Police Headquarters, Owerri.

The attacks led to the release of over 1,000 inmates.

Publicity Secretary of the group, Fidelis Echendu noted that “an insecure State is not just capable of weakening investor confidence, but also further erode the economy of the State.

He added that Imo State is topping the list of unemployed persons in the federation, stating that an insecure State, will further worsen the unemployment status of the State.

“With high unemployment rate and with the level of insecurity in the State, it will be difficult to boost investor confidence which the State is in dire need at this time.

He advised Governor Hope Uzodimma to convene a Development Summit, as soon as possible, which will offer key stakeholders in the State, the opportunity to brainstorm on how to move the State forward in the face of insecurity plaguing the State.
