Governor Hope Uzodimma has been advised to shun politicians, and appoint technocrats, in his yet to be reconstituted State Executive Council.
A watchdog, Imo Awareness Coalition, IAC, made the plea at the weekend.
Spokesman of the IAC, Fidelis Echendu, told INNONEWS in Owerri, that Governor Uzodimma should “engage technocrats as members of the State Exco, because Imo State is in dire need of economic rebirth and rearmament
“There were many politicians in the sacked cabinet.May be, because the Governor focused on using such positions to compensate his political footsoldiers.
“The task of rebuilding our State is onerous, and we believe that the governor should place emphasis on developing our State for the benefit of Imolites. And in achieving this feat, we need to bring in technocrats and experts in various fields
“Moving the State forward is paramount and only technocrats can achieve this purpose.
“Our State has been so stagnant for sometime, and this narrative has to change.
“We are not saying politicians should be relegated, but when it comes to delivering deliverables to the people, the technocrats are pivotal and key to acheiving it.
“We strongly use this medium to advise the Governor to also expand his search for new appointees beyond the shores of the State.
“There are hundreds of Imolites out there who are yearning to come home to assist our State, and bring it out of the doldrums
Recall that Governor Hope Uzodimma had dissolved the State Executive Council, sacking twenty Commissioners and retained eight of them.
