Feelers emerged at the weekend that some PDP members in the Imo State House of Assembly, could be “romancing” the All Progressive Congress.
The party has seven members in the House after most of its members had decamped to the APC, after the Supreme Court removed Emeka Ihedioha and declared Senator Hope Uzodimma of the APC as governor of the State.
The seven PDP lawmakers in the House are: Anyadike Nwosu ( Ezinihitte Mbaise), Frank Ugboma (Oguta), Okey Onyekanma (Mbaitoli), Philip Ejiogu (Owerri North), Solomon Anukam (Owerri Municipal), Tochi Okereke (Ngor Okpala), Paschal Okolie (Orlu).
There have been skirmishes between the PDP lawmakers and their APC counterparts in recent times in the House, which centered on cut or slash in their monthly entitlements.
The PDP lawmakers had protested then and most times walked out during plenary sessions, as a way of expressing their maltreatment. But it appears all is well now, as the lawmakers no longer complain of such victimization.
“They are no longer complaining. it appears all is well for them now, though their entitlements are their statutory right. But there are fears that there may have been some compromise her and there for all that to change” a party source told INNONEWS
Media reports in Owerri however claim that fears of possible romance with the APC arose, when five of the seven PDP lawmakers were reportedly present when the State House of Assembly approved the request of Governor Hope Uzodimma, to borrow additional N10 billion naira loan.
Efforts to speak to the lawmakers was futile, but when contacted for the party’s reaction, the New Media Director, Imo PDP, Mr. Collins Opurozor said the party is not aware of any move of PDP lawmakers in the State House of Assembly to cross over to the APC.
“We are not aware of such moves. But all I can tell you, is that any PDP member who decamps to the APC will return to the party on empty stomach” Opurozor stated
