Uzodimma May Unveil New Commissioners After LGA Consultations

Governor Hope Uzodimma may unveil new Commissioners, after concluding his consultations with stakeholders in the 27 local government areas.

The overnor had sacked 20 of his Commissioners recently, retaining eight of them, in his first major overhaul after the Supreme Court pronounced him Governor of the State.

Stakeholders, mainly chieftains of the All Progressive Congress, APC, appointees and political footsoldiers of the Governor in the LGAs, have been visiting Government House, Owerri, where they interacted with the Governor.

INNONEWS was told that discussions between the Governor and the stakeholders centered on various issues.

Sources said leaders of various LGAs may henceforth make recommendations for appointive positions to the governor, including Commissioners.

There are considerations that the next set of Commissioners may have the input or contributions of stakeholders in the LGAs.

“This time, the idea of appointing those who originated from the stakeholders will be considered.

“Some of the sacked Commissioners were not in synergy with their stakeholders, and this created a lot of communication gap” a source told this newspaper.

There are also feelers that the next set of Commissioners may come from each of the 27 local governments.
