Ohaneze Ndigbo has been advised to expand it’s Peace and Reconciliation Committee beyond it’s present composition.
Ohaneze in reaction to rising insecurity in the South East, constituted a peace and reconciliation Committee to address the menace.
A group, South East Coalition For Good Governance, SECG, in a statement in Enugu signed by its President, Emmanuel Okwu, said the Committee should include South East Governors, Ministers and Leader of the Indigeneous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu
“We observed that key stakeholders and strategic leaders in Igboland such as South East Governors, Ministers and other prominent Igbo stakeholders, were missing on the list.
“Key traditional rulers should be also on the list. Even Nnamdi Kanu should be included and reached out because he has an important role to play to achieve peace in Igboland.
Also, an activist, Mr.Samuelson Iwuoha, wondered why Ohaneze Ndigbo excluded some prominent Igbos from the Committee.
“In as much as I appreciate steps being taken to bring about peace in the South East and among it’s leaders, I must condemn Prof George Obiozor led Ohaneze Ndi Igbo leadership for omitting some prominent names.
“What is the rationale for ommiting the names of the following leaders in the South East?, such as Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, Dr. Peter Obi, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Dr Ikedi Ohakim, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani, Dr Citizen Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha, Dr. Andy Uba, Chief Sullivan Chime, Sir Jude Ejiogu, Prince Arthur Eze, Senator Pius Anyim, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Chief Innocent Chukwu, Chief Cletus Ibeto, Mr. Frank Nneji, etc
He said Ohaneze Ndigbo also goofed for not reaching out “to Citizen Nnamdi Kanu or it’s Representatives. Whether anybody likes it or not, Nnamdi Kanu has emerged as the defacto “Tompolo” and Ozigbondu in the South East
