Rift In Imo APC, Okorocha’s Camp May Shun Congresses

There are strong indications that former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha and his political footsoldiers, may not take part in the forthcoming Congresses of the All Progressive Congress, APC.

Okorocha and his followers had shunned the APC membership registration and revalidation exercise held in the State.

Okorocha, alongside his ally, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume had shunned the exercise.

Efforts by a special delegation from the national headquaters of the APC to Governor Uzodimma to allow Okorocha and co take part in the registration, did not yeild expected results.

Uzodimma had implored the team to get Okorocha to fix a date he wants to come and register.

The Senator never complied or showed up, thus sending clear signals that his rift with the Imo State Governor is far from over.

The APC in Imo State remains fragmented, as those not sympathetic to the camp of the Governor, are not acomodated in the running of the party.

The practice is not perculiar to Imo State, as most State Governors in APC states have maintained tight grip of the party structure.

This has been fingered as the genesis of festering crisis which rock APC states.

A faction of the party in the State, backed by Senator Okorocha and led by Chima Nwafor, parades itself as the authentic leadership of the party, on the basis of the judgement of the Court of Appeal.
