As governorship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Anambra State draws near, a socio political group, Anambra Solidarity Front, ASF, has drummed support for leading governorship aspirant, Dr. Godwin Maduka.
The group also strongly advised the PDP to concede it’s guber ticket to Anambra South, in the spirit of equity and justice.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Awka, and signed by Chief Ezemba Ojinnaka, and Greg Emordi, Chairman and Secretary respectively, the group advised delegates, chieftains and stakeholders of the PDP, to choose Dr. Maduka as it’s governorship candidate “because he is the pathway for the PDP in Anambra State to Government House, Awka”
Part of the statement read “The PDP must present a formidable candidate for the forthcoming governorship election.
“This is the only way it can win the guber election, because other political parties are equally going to present quality candidates.
“It has to present a candidate that will take the party on the path of Government House, Awka.
“A candidate whose aspiration is acceptable to the people and one whom, Ndi Anambra have reposed their confidence and trust on based on his antecedents.
“We have assessed most of the aspirants in the PDP, but Dr. Maduka towers above them all, in terms of accomplishments, capacity and antecedents.
“He has demonstrated a burning passion to change Anambra for good and make the State great again.
“He is exposed and the gains of such international exposure will add value to Anambra State. Our State shall be great again under a Maduka led government.
On the contentious issue of zoning, the group advised the PDP to zone it’s govenorship ticket to Anambra South, stating anything short of it, will lead to doom for the party and huge failure in the November 2021 governorship election”
“If the PDP get it works by fielding a weak candidate and do not conceed the ticket to Anambra South, then it should expect rejection at the governorship election.
According to the group “Zoning has been part of the democratic culture of Anambra State.
“And it will be political suicide, if the PDP fails to adhere to it particularly at the forthcoming Primary.
“The failure of the party will begin if it does not concede the govenorship ticket to Anambra South.
“And among aspirants vying for Anambra guber from Anambra South, Dr. Maduka is the ideal governorship candidate of the party.
