As the State awaits on Governor Hope Uzodimma to reconstitute his cabinet, a watchdog, Imo Awareness Coalition, IAC, has advised the Governor to shun politicians with baggage in his yet to be reconstituted cabinet.
The IAC had last month advised Governor Uzodimma to go for technocrats, and reduce considerably the number of core politicians in his administration.
Speaking to INNONEWS in Owerri, Publicity Secretary of the Coalition, Fidelis Echendu, said only a cabinet devoid of politicians with baggage will truly aid the governor deliver the core objectives of his administration’s 3R mantra.
He said “We had earlier called on the governor to shun politicians and go for technocrats in his new look cabinet.
“But now, we are adding that the governor should equally ignore politicians with political baggage and those with integrity issues.
“They do no government any good. The quality of his next cabinet determines how his administration will perform in the remaining years.
“We also advise he constitutes a committee to conduct an integrity test on those he wants to appoint as Commissioners and Special Advisers. This is important. Â
“Credibility of his appointees is paramount. He has to appoint Commissioners and SAs with capacity and ability to deliver. No appointments based on sentiments. Morals and character should also be a huge factor for consideration for appointment. This is the practice in civilized climes.
“We believe Governor Uzodimma has considerably settled some of his friends and political associates, we therefore hope he goes for the best. They are not in short supply in the State.
