A third force, in other words, another political movement, is expected to emerge after the national convention of the All Progressive Congress, APC.

The APC is due to hold it’s convention in October .

Ward, Local government, State and Zonal Congresses of the party will hold before the national convention.

Some aggrieved former governors of the party are said to be spearheading the move.

The third force, this newspaper was informed will metamorphose into a full blown political party, as it intends to seek registration from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Top politicians in the federation are expected to be part of the new movement, including those who may have lost out in the power dynamics in the party.

Former federal lawmakers and others, who have been sidelined in the APC, are said to be showing interest in the new political movement.

From the South East, a former governor, and three senators who have refused to partake in several activities of the APC lately, are deeply involved in plans to float the new political movement.

Proponents of the “third force, are contemplating re enacting the merger of three political parties that led to the formation of the APC in 2013.

The APC is an offshoot of defunct All Nigeria People’s Party, ANPP, Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Congress For Progressive Change, CPC, a faction of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA and a breakaway group in the PDP, the nPDP.

The APC was registered in 2014 and in 2015, it dislodged the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP from the centre and produced many state governors and majority of members in the National Assembly.

Sources who are in the know of the new political group, say the outcome of the national convention of the APC, “will determine the shape and direction of the proposed political movement”

“Before the end of 2021, this third force will come on board.

“And it is not exclusively for aggrieved APC members, even those in the PDP can come over” the source said.
