The All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA in Imo State, has called on the National Assembly to suspend the Imo State House of Assemby from further legislative proceedings, following the shooting at the Assemby complex after six members of the House were suspended.

Imo State Chairman of APGA, John Iwuala, described the action of the lawmakers as unparliamentary and shameful and a big slap on legislative principles and democracy.

He said the peace and security of the House can no longer be guaranteed, thus the National Assembly should take over the State House of Assemby.

In another statement signed by New Media Director of the party, Chilagorom Ifeanyi, APGA stated “We call on the National Assembly to as a matter of urgent public importance, suspend the entire House and take over proceedings of the House until normalcy is restored”

Six members of the House were suspended by the Speaker.

They are Minority Leader and member Representing Ezinihitte Mbaise, Hon.Anyadike Nwosu (PDP), Hon.Phillip Ejiogu (PDP, Owerri North), Hon.Uche Ogbuagu (Ikeduru, APC), Hon.Kennedy Ibe (APC, Obowo), Dominic Ezerioha (APC, Oru West), and Onyemeachi Njoku (APC, Ihitte Uboma)
