14th August, 2021 will ever remain indelible in the of history of Rotary Club of Owerri Metropolitan as they confered an excellent Community Service Award In Grassroot Development And Empowerment to Hon. Amb. Philip Ejiogu,the member representing Owerri North State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly.
It was reliablely gathered that, this award was done in appreciation of his humanitarian works towards humanity and the society at large. The occasion also witnessed the induction of new members into the Rotary fold.
In his valedictory speech, the outgoing President Rtn Chidozie Okereke enumerated the achievements the Club recorded during the 2020/2021 Rotary year, and thanked Club members for the support and pledged his unalloyed support to the Visionary President to do more greater things in the Community than he did.
In his inaugural speech, the 2021/2022 Visionary President, Rtn George Clifford solicited for support of everyone to enable the Club succeed in all her mapped out Service Projects this Rotary year.
The highlights of the occasion were the conferment of Excellent Community Service Award In Grassroot Development And Empowerment to Hon Philip Ejiogu, member representing Owerri North State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, in appreciation of his humanitarian works towards humanity and the society at large. The occasion was witnessed the induction of new members into the Rotary fold.
In line with the Seven areas of focus of Rotary, the Club executed Economic Community Development Project by giving a financial grant to three indigent Women to support and assist them in their petty trade. The District Governor Rtn Okey Okonkwo who was the Special Guest of the occasion, handed over the grant package to the beneficiaries.
The occasion ended with fun as all Rotarians were charged to go all out and Serve to Change Lives especially those around them.
