Two weeks to the conduct of the State Congress of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Imo State, there are no Chairmanship aspirants for the number one job of the party in the State.

INNONEWS checks reveal that as at Friday, September 17, no one has picked the party’s forms for the position of state Chairman.

This newspaper had reported on August 20, that there is noticeable silence and disquiet among key stakeholders and players in the party as regards those who want to run for the chairmanship of the party in the State.

After the sucessful conduct of the ward and local government congress, and the announcement by the national leadership of the party, that state congress will hold on October 2, no one within the party has surfaced in public or in private, to announce his or her intention to run for the Chairmanship of the party in Imo State.

Party sources said the Uzodimma camp, which has dominated the ward and Local Government Congress, is yet to settle who runs for the top job in the party in the State.

Another source claimed that lack of aspirants from the Governor’s camp could be predicated on assumptions that Uzodimmais keeping close to his chest, who runs the affairs of the party in the next four years.

An Uzodimma loyalist told INNONEWS “The body language of the Governor on who becomes the State party Chairman is unclear , and no one wants to jump before you are told to walk or run”

The ongoing tug of war between Governor Uzodimma and former governor Rochas Okorocha, is also fingered as another major factor scaring potential aspirants for the Chairmanship away.

However, there are rumours that the present caretaker Commitee led by Marcellinus Nlemigbo, may stand the chance of metamorpsing into the elected State executives at the State Congress. There was no independent confirmation of this claim
