The Nigeria Institution of Environmental Engineers, NIEE, a division of Nigeria Society Of Engineers, NSE, says it will honour its Patron, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, by organizing a scheme, “Indigenous Content Innovative Challenge for Private and Public Higher Institutions and a National Essay Competition for Secondary Schools”
Addressing newsmen in Owerri, Chairman, NIEE, Imo State, Engr Dr (Mrs) Ngozi Nwogu, said the Innovative Challenge is ‘aimed at promoting sustainable competitive and Qualitative Understanding of Engineering, Science, Technology, Innovation and the Environment (ESTIE) which is the 21st century Resources. This is a scheme that associates ideas with moment of inspiration, change, innovation and results leading to a sequence for sustainable development”
Nwogu noted that the competition is open from Monday 11th October to Monday, 8th November, 2021.
She also noted that the scheme “is to raise a generation of people who think for themselves thereby obtaining more ideas, create sense of belonging, stimulate appetite for Engineering, Science, Technology, Innovation and the Environment (ESTIE) ..
She explained that ” the name (Iwuanyanwu) has become synonymous with Innovative Challenge for he has always been a man who treads where others are afraid of. Chief Iwuanyanwu’s contributions in the Engineering sector gas remained unquantifibale. He has had many products in Enginerring to his credit. The Asphalt concrete pavement which is being used all over the country is his brain child. The construction of bridges without hand rails is also to his credit”
According to her, winner of the first prize for Indigeneous Innovative Challenge will smile home with N1,000,000, 2nd prize N500,000 and 3rd Prize N250,000, while National Essay Competition winners for secondary Schools will go home with N200,000 for 1st prize, N100,000 for 2nd prize and N50,000 for 3rd prize.
