Imo Assembly To Resume Sitting Amidst Controversial Loan Approval

Members of Imo State House of Assembly are expected to reconvene on Thursday, October 28, 2021 amidst controversy how the Speaker, Paul Emeziem and seven others approved a whopping N18 billion naira loan for Governor Hope Uzodimma.

The approval was said to have been done in the private lodge of the Speaker, a move which has sparked widespread condemnation.

The Imo Awareness Coalition, IAC, a watchdog based in the State described the act as  “desecration of the legislature and further proof of firmly held belief that members of the current House of Assembly are like female maids of the executives”

The leadership of the State House of Assembly have kept mum on the matter.

The members are reconvening after a one month break.

It had reconvened on September 23 from a two months break only to adjourn for another four weeks.
