Imo Assembly Crisis: Unveiling Of Commissioner Nominees Stalled

The drama in the Imo State House of Assembly is said to be responsible for the delay in the announcement and subsequent screening of Commissioner nominees.

The House has been engulfed in crisis lately. Trouble burst when the Deputy Speaker, Amara Iwuanyanwu was impeached last week. In a dramatic twist, the Speaker, Paul Emeziem, was sacked by 19 members on Monday, November 8.

Iwuanyanwu who was removed last week was reinstated Deputy Speaker. Two members of the House were also suspended.

The list of Commissioners is said to be before the House before the trouble among House members surfaced. INNONEWS was however unable to independently ascertain the authenticity of this information.

A list of 14 Commissioner nominees had surfaced online last week. It was unclear if it was the authentic list sent to the House by Governor Hope Uzodimma.

This newspaper was told that with the enthronement of a new Speaker, Hon Kennedy Ibe, the coast is now for the nominees to be announced on the floor of the House and screened thereafter.
