Constitution Review: Imo NUJ Inaugurates Five Man Committee

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Imo State Council, has constituted a five man committee to review the Constitution of the union.

Inaugurating the committee at the Union’s Congress held at the new NUJ Secretariat, Owerri, Chairman, NUJ, Imo State, Chris Akaraonye, said the committee will identify areas in the Constitution that requires amendment and make appropriate recommendations to the State executive.

He said the Executives will in turn harmonize the recommendations of the committee, which will serve as the position or stance of the State Council on the Constitution of the Union.

He said the recommendations will be forwarded to the national body of the union for consideration.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Chris Nwokocha, assured the NUJ Exco and members, that he and his team will live up expectations and carry out their assignment diligently.

Other members of the Commitee are Elder Kalakiya, Mr.Innocent Onyeukwu, Mrs Vivian Iwu and Mr.Chinedu Egere, who will serve as Secretary of the Commitee.

The Commitee was mandated to conclude it’s assignment and submit it’s report in two weeks.
