Iwuanyanwu Conferred Grand Fellow, Nigeria Institution Of Environmental Engineers

The Nigeria Institution of Environmental Engineers, NIEE, a division of Nigeria Society of Engineers, NSE, has conferred elder statesman, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, as Fellow of the Institution.

The conferment on Chief Iwuanyanwu was part of activities of a public lecture /fellowship organized by NIEE titled “Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Indigenous Content Innovative Challenge/ National Essay Competition, with the theme Sustaining Engineering, Indigenous Contents and Economic Development” held in Owerri.

In his remarks, the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, commended Chief Iwuanyanwu on his conferment by NIEE, describing him as one who belongs to a special class of Nigerians. Represented by his Chief of Staff, Nnamdi Anyaehie, the governor promised to support next year’s event.

National Chairman, NIEE, Engr. O.E.S Ajani, said Chief Iwuanyanwu has also been conferred as the National Grand Patron of NIEE.

Chairman, Imo State Chapter of NIEE, Engr.(Dr) Ngozi Claribelle Nwogu, said the event was “conceptualized with the aim of harnessing locally available resources to bring solution to myriads of environmental problems, for the benefit of Nigerians”

She said “the project comprises on one part, research innovations by erudite engineers, scientists, scholars and technologists, using local materials (indigeneous content) for the good of the people.

“The second arm of the project is the National Essay Competition among Nigerian children in secondary schools across the country, on selected topics of environmental concerns, with a view of catching them young and stimulating the culture of problem solving in our leaders of tomorrow

“This project wouldn’t have been timely than now, considering the global yearnings for environmental restoration and preservation of mother earth” she said

In his remarks after his investiture as fellow of the Institution, Chief Iwuanyanwu commended NIEE, Imo State chapter for the honour conferred on him.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of cheques to winners of the essay competition in various categories.
