Nwulu, the iniator of the bill, when he represented Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2015- 2019, spoke at PDP National Retreat on Youth Participation held in Abuja.

He said “APC has been stealing ideas conceptualized by the PDP. The Not Too Young To Run bill was a PDP bill, initiated by myself, a then PDP lawmaker in the House of Representatives. The APC has been taking credit for it because of its success.

The former lawmaker who called for a minute silence for victims of the Endsars protest at the event, said a good number of the youths have been vying for various elective offices since the bill was signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said “A good number of youths vied for various seats –at the senate and House of Representatives- in 2019 after the passage of the bill into law. I can recall that out of 4,680 persons who vied for the House of Reps in 2019, 1, 622 were youths” Nwulu noted

He commended the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for electing a 25 year old as National Youth leader of the party, but cautioned the party “to give him the wherewithal to function”

“I hope this is not an act of tokenism. The PDP must provide him (the National Youth Leader),the platform to function” he stated.

He said the PDP has demonstrated in strong terms that it has the interest of the youths at heart.

The event had in attendance former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar,PDP National Secretary elect, Senator Sam Anyanwu and other key leaders of the party.
