The Ala Owerri United Front, AUOF, a socio- political organization, has said it has put in place mechanisms to ensure that the people of Owerrri zone (Imo East Senatorial District) elect “a credible and competent Senator with proven track record of capacity and ability to effectively represent the zone in the senate in 2023”.
Bernard Uba, Coordinator, AUOF, told INNONEWS in Owerri, that it will no longer fold its hands and allow Owerri zone to be poorly represented in the senate as witnessed in recent times.
“We have come to change the narrative. Owerri Zone has been poorly represented in the senate and we will put a stop to it. In 2023, we will analyze and asses all the aspirants when they begin to declare their intention to contest irrespective of party affiliations.
“And we will consult the leadership of various political parties to consider certain indices and factors in nominating candidates for Owerri zone senate seat” he stated
He said AUOF will campaign extensively for any candidate who meets their criteria and assessment, stating that it will also extend its searchlight on those seeking for House of Reps seats across the zone.
Speaking on the group, Uba stated that the AUOF is a socio political organization driven by the passion for the good of Owerri zone.
“We are propelled by the burning desire to make Owerri zone better. And this can be achieved when we make informed choices of those who will represent us at various public offices.
“We have penetrated the grassroots in the zone and before the race for the senate seat begins in 2023, we will sensitize our people on the need to elect a competent senator and also members of the House of Reps from the zone.
He reiterated the quest for Owerri zone to produce the next governor of the state which he stated, will be accomplished after broad consultations with other sister geo political zones.
