A new set of Commissioners will soon be appointed as indications became clear mid week that Governor Hope Uzodimma is now set to reconstitute his cabinet.

Seven months after dissolving his cabinet, which has undoubtedly frustrated most of his political footsoldiers and loyalists, a new list of appointees is now in the offing.

A source told INNONEWS on Monday that baring last minute changes, the House of Assembly, which recovened on Tuesday, November 2, will receive the new list of commissioners when it reconvenes on Thursday, November 5.

The new list, sources said will shock some core loyalists of the Governor, who had anticipated their return.

The source who spoke to INNONEWS on condition of anonymity said “The list is done. Three former Commissioners or more from the previous cabinet will return.

“A former governor made two nominees. Some Special Advisers,SAs will be upgraded as Commissioners.

“A former Speaker of the State House of Assemby, one top notch decampee from the opposition who has remained faithful will make the cut.

“One or two top leaders of the APC who lost iout during the party Congress will find solace in the new cabinet.

“New faces will dominate the new cabinet, because there are evidence that some of those who profess loyalty to the governor in the day wine with the opposition in the night.

“The new cabinet is a combination of those who will propel the ideals of the government and also consolidate on the gains of its achievements.

“Politicians are more in number in the new set up. They would serve as the political evangelist of the government at the grassroots, in the face of the rising strength of the opposition in the State.

The source said further ” The new cabinet is all encompassing. Each of the new appointee has a stake. It is a list of what you can call the governor’s squad, which will aid in advancing the core objectives of the present administration

“The Governor ostensibly aware of the level of backlash and frustration of some of his loyalists is stepping up the pace of governnance. After the sucessful congress and with a date for local government election set, you can see there is a renewed push for more engagement on his part”

Recall that Governor Hope Uzodimma had sacked 20 Commissioners and later over 90 SAs and SSAs in his first major sweep of his cabinet in April

Information Commissioner, Declan Emelumba, had said the dissolution were in line with plans of government to “rejig”the administration.
