It also advised the state government to focus on “providing critical infrastructure for the benefit of the people of the State in the coming year”

In its annual report for 2021 signed by Fidelis Echendu, its spokesman and made available to INNONEWS in Owerri, the group said “Imo State witnessed security challenges in 2021 and efforts should be intensified by the State Governor, as the Chief Security officer of the State, to improve on it”

It noted that the dangers inherent in an “insecure State vary from lack of investors and difficulty in Ease of Doing Business. Insecurity is capable of choking the economy of any state and there is need for more concerted efforts by the state government to improve on it”

The IAC stated that in 2021 it observed that “there is gradual collapse of the economy of the State. Businesses particularly SMES, are bound to suffocate in an environment insecurity thrives”

It stated the state government must also focus on improving critical infrastructure in the state for the benefit of the citizens, “such as roads which are the arteries of the economy”

“The deplorable condition of some of our roads in the state is becoming unbearable especially for those who ply the roads on daily basis. We have noticed a drop in attention by the state government given to roads construction, rehabilitation in the state particularly key roads such as the MCC- Uratta road, which is one of the major roads that has been in a state disrepair.
