There are strong indications that the suspension of three members of Imo State House of Assembly, could be linked to their presence at the funeral of the mother of former governorship aspirant, Uche Nwosu.

The three suspended members include Hon Arthur Egwim (Ideato),Hon Ngozi Obiefule (Isu) and Hon Obinna Okwara (Nkwerre).

The  Speaker, Kennedy Ibeh announced their suspension on the floor of the House on Thursday.

The reason given for their suspension “The governor presented the 2022 budget, the house promised to give it an accelerated hearing. These lawmakers ignored to participate in the sitting and the speaker was angry with their action, therefore they were suspended.”

The trio were elected to the House in 2019 on the platform of the Action Alliance, AA, a party Uche Nwosu had emerged its governorship candidate in the 2019 governorship election.

Okwara, who represents Nkwerre State Constituency, is Nwosu’s kinsman.

Nwosu’s mum funeral, Late Jemimah had taken place at Eziama Obiare in Nkwerre LGA.

Among dignitaries who attended the funeral include two former governors of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Hon Emeka Ihedioha, socialite, Obinna Iyiegbu popularly called Obi Cubana and many other dignitaries.

A source said the trio attended the funeral, and “is it not strange that after they attended the funeral, they were suspended from the House 24 hours later”
