Two major political parties in Imo State- the governing All Progressive Congress, APC and the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, in Imo State, Monday, differed on the arrest by the Police of Uche Nwosu, former governorship candidate of the Action Alliance, AA and son in law of former governor Rochas Okorocha.
Nwosu was arrested by the police at St Andrews Anglican Church, Eziama Obire in Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State on Sunday, December 26.
Reacting to the arrest, the APC in a statement signed by Cajethan Duke, its publicity Secretary, stated that Nwosu does not have immunity simply because he is Okorocha’s son in law.
“That Uche Nwsou is his (Okorocha) son in law does not confer on him any immunity from arrest and prosecution, as marrying the daughter of a former governor is not immunity of any kind
“The APC is aware that the law is not respecter of no individual as nobody is above it” part of the statement read.
The All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, in Imo State , Sunday accused Governor Hope Uzodimma of exhibiting political panic which led it to politically victimize Mr. Nwosu
The State Party Chairman, John Iwuala, said Nwosu is a victim of political victimization.
He claimed that the former Chief of Staff, Government House, Owerri, was arrested because he directed his political followers to get set to join the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA.
“This is a case of political victimization.
Prior to the burial of Nwosu’s mother, the Late Jemimah, Uche Nwosu had directed that all his political foot-soldiers to come to APGA. And this caused panic in government circles” Iwuala said
