Uzodimma Has Restored Water Supply In Aladimma, World Bank, Orogwe- ISWSC

The Imo Water and Sewerage Corporation, ISWSC, Owerri, has announced that water supply has been restored in Aladimma, World Bank and Orogwe areas since the water scheme abandoned by previous administrations in the State was rehabilitated by Governor Hope Uzodimma.

Speaking to newsmen while conducting them round facilities at the corporation’s headquarters in Owerri, the Managing Director of the Corporation, Engr Emeka Ugoanyanwu, commended the governor for bringing the corporation back to life after several years of neglect and abandonment.

Explaining further, the Director, Engineering Services of the Corporation, Engr. Boniface Chukwudi Onyeji, who said water supply has been restored in these areas, further disclosed that the Governor Uzodimma, upon assumption of office, brought in new machines and refurbished dilapidated ones at Otamiri Water Treatment Facility, which led to the reticulation of water to some parts of Owerri and beyond.

He said other areas where water does not reticulate, is as a result of water pipes that were damaged during the Urban Renewal Pprogramme of the past administration. He revealed that the State government has taken measures to replace such damaged water pipes, in order for every street within the municipality to get regular portable water.

Confirming the statement of the ISWC, the Director, Water Services in the Ministry of Water Resources and Power, Engr. Victor Agunobi admitted that water has been restored at the State Secretariat, located along Owerri- Port Harcourt Road, since Governor Uzodimma rehabilitated the water scheme.

“The importance of the water scheme at the Secretariat cannot be overemphasized as workers seem to be happy that water and power have returned at the Secretariat” he said

In his contributions, the Director, Electrical Services, Ministry of Power and Water Resources, Engr. Basil Okolie said “ Governor Uzodimma came and rehabilitated the dilapidated generator that powers the water scheme.

“The Generator also generates power at 6 blocks of the Secretariat. In the past, the Secretariat has no power nor water. Uzodimma has done well in 2 years of governance and he merits my support”. he said.
