Banks, schools and markets in Owerri, Imo State capital, were completely shut down on Tuesday in compliance with Sit At Home Order issued by the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB.
IPOB had issued the order in solidarity with the trial and appearance in court of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
INNONEWS roving reporter, Ikenna Amadi, reports that residents of the state capitaL stayed in doors, as some youths took over the streets and major roads to play football.
Along the busy wethedral and Douglas roads, many business premises and shops were under lock and key in compliance to the IPOB sit at home order. There were fewer or no vehicular movement on major roads in the state capital.
At the popular Relief market, Owerri, it was under lock and key. At Orji, businesses were completely shut down, a clear indication of total compliance to the Order.
A trader at Eke Ukwu Market, Ernest Anujuo, said “the Sit At Home order, as difficult and painful as it is, is a sacrifice we, as Igbos must make to ensure freedom for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to be released. He is fighting a just cause and we support him all the way”
The Federal High Court, Abuja, presided by Justice Binta Nyako, adjourned Kanu’s matter to Wednesday, January 19.
