2023: Okorocha, Nwajiuba Told To Declare For President, Inform Buhari

Former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha and Minister of State, Education, Hon Emeka Nwajiuba, have been advised to officially declare their presidential ambition, by informing President Muhammadu Buhari.

Okorocha, senator who represents Imo West Senatorial zone in the senate and two time presidential aspirant had last year given clues that he will contest for the presidency in 2023.

Nwajiuba, a known ally of President Buhari, is also believed to eying the presidency, with several support groups urging him to run.

Former Lagos State Governor and APC National leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, had set the ball rolling on Monday during his visit to the State House, Abuja, where he informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his intention to run for President.

24 hours later, Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, also met President Buhari and told him of his intention to contest.

A socio political group, South East Coalition for Good Governance, SECG, had in a statement in Enugu, shortly after Tinubu’s declaration, called on Igbo political leaders in the APC desirous to run for the Presidency in 2023 to step forward and equally inform Buhari of their intention to contest.

Buttressing the stance of SECG, a chieftain of the APC in Imo State and one time councillor, Hon Rufus Anyagwa told INNONEWS that “Okorocha and Nwajiuba should officially join the contest by informing President Buhari of their aspiration.

“They are two great sons of Imo State and they should emulate Tinubu and Umahi, who are courageous to come forward and declare their intentions for the presidency by informing the President.

“Ebonyi State already has two presidential aspirants. Gov Dave Umahi in the APC and former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim in the PDP.  This is not the time for them to foot drag but to step forward and tell Nigerians that they are interested in taking over from Buhari in 2023″ Anyagwa advised.
