APC Chieftains In Imo Jostle For National Secretary Post

Some chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Imo State are eying the National Secretary post of the party.

With indications that the party may concede the position of National Scribe to the South East, having zoned the National Chairmanship to the North, party stalwarts in Imo State have already signaled interest to grab the position.

It has been observed Senator Osita Izunaso, who was one time National Organizing Secretary of the party, is interested in the position.

Izunaso was one time Senator who had represented Orlu Zone in the senate.

Though he has not publicly declared his ambition, posters of the Senator signaling his intention for the position has surfaced online, mainly on Whatsapp platforms

Another Chieftain of the party, Batos Nwadike, is also speculated to be interested in the post. This newspaper has not been able to confirm his interest. Nwadike is an aide of Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.

There are said to be other contenders for the position from other States in the South East. None have visibly shown interest

The APC is firmly rooted in Imo and Ebonyi States where Governors Hope Uzodimma and Dave Umahi, hold sway

The APC National Convention is expected to hold in Abuja on February 26, 2023.
