Model Mother Mary Kanu Joins The Saints Triumphants

The family of late Godfrey Kanu Maduegbulem of Ubahi Eziala Amumara, Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State announces the recall to eternal glorious heavenly journey of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother in law, Grandmother in law, Sister and Aunt –  Model Mother Mary Uhiearu Kanu. 

Aged 95, Model Mother Mary Kanu joined the Saints Triumphants as she wished while on earth. Her wish always was that she will like to die in peace in the midst of the Saints and her Creator granted her her request. 

Model mother Mary Kanu was a member of many Sodalities in the Catholic Church and above all at Our Lady of Victory Parish, Amumara. She was a pioneer member of the Legion of Mary, a member of Nne Enyem Aka, Member of Sacred Heart of Jesus and Strong member of the Catholic Women Organization.

Model mother Mary Kanu because of her roles in the church and various Sodalities she belonged received so many awards at the Parish and Diocesan levels,one of which was the MODEL MOTHER Award by the Catholic Diocese of Ahiara, Ezinne by the Our Lady of Victory Parish Amumara among others . 

She was instrumental and the Pillar behind the siting and building of the Sacred Heart Church, Ubahi Eziala Amumara. 

The remains of Model mother Mary Kanu will be buried on Friday February 11,2022 after a Pontifical Requiem Mass at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ubahi Eziala Amumara, Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State by 11am. 

She is survived by eight children Sir E I P Kanu(KSJI), Mr Isaac Kanu, Mr Boniface Kanu, Eziada Lady Ugochi Ben Osuagwu – wife of Ben Osuagwu a former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Imo State Council, Pst Mrs Maritha Nwachukwu,  Mrs Rita Ohanele, Lady Rosanna Amalaha, Charles Kanu, 4 Daughters inlaw 4 Sons inlaw , 38 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and grandsons and granddaughters inlaw and a host of other relations.
