NIS Comptroller Assures Improved Services In Imo

The Comptroller of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Imo Command, Mr Okey Ezugwu, has expressed the commands determination to improve its services to the public.


Ezugwu said this while flagging off the 2022 Customer Service Week at the command’s headquarters in Owerri.

Performing the ceremony, he urged applicants to present their complaints, opinions and suggestions to his office, assuring that all complaints would be addressed speedily.

He said that the NIS was committed to ensuring that applicants were treated with courtesy and that all applications followed due process to discourage racketeering and delays.

The comptroller further advised applicants to be proactive and make their applications early enough to avoid falling victim to racketeers in their desperation.


“We are here to serve you and we want to ensure that you are satisfied with the services we provide; to enable us achieve this, we solicit your opinions, complaints and suggestions.


“No officer should stop you from requesting a meeting with the management, if anything is going wrong, insist on seeing me or any senior management personnel.


“Government belongs to you and it is run with your taxes; if they do not let you see me, it means they have something to hide,” he said.


Ezeugwu also inaugurated shelters designed to accommodate applicants adding that they were constructed to ensure they were comfortable while waiting.


“We have put up these structures to make applicants comfortable while they wait for their applications to be processed to demonstrate our commitment to improved service delivery.


“The televisions there are for the entertainment of applicants to make their waiting time less tedious and possibly reduce their boredom,” he said.


He also encouraged applicants to name unscrupulous officers who solicit bribes to hasten their passport application process.
