2023: South May Bag Presidency, As APC Zones National Chair To North

The All Progressives Congress, APC, may have settled for Southern Nigeria, as the region to produce the next President of the country in 2023.

This is as the party zoned it’s National Chairmanship position to the North.

This was disclosed on Tuesday after President Muhammadu Buhari, met 19 State Governors elected on the platform of the APC, to discuss modalities for the party’s National Convention.

The APC has scheduled March 26, as new date for it’s convention to elect party officials.

Speaking after the meeting, Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-r Rufai told journalists at the State House; “We have agreed a zoning formula for all the six geopolitical zones and essentially, we swapped. Northern zones will take positions that Southern zones had in the last eight years and vice versa.”

“So, it’s a very simple, equitable and fair formula. We will now go back and consult at the zonal level, and look at the positions that are available and the process of the convention preparation will start in earnest. So by the grace of God on the 26th of March, we will have done a national convention.”
