Ebonyi State is in top contention for the National Secretary position of the governing All Progressive Congress, APC, as the national convention of the governing party draws near.
INNONEWS was informed that despite interest showed by some politicians in Imo State for the plum job, Ebonyi State Governor and presidential aspirant, Dave Umahi, is said to be pushing one of his loyalists to emerge the national secretary of the party.
A source said soon, his preferred choice will formally announce his ambition to aspire for the position.
The South East is expected to produce the national scribe of the APC when its national convention holds later this month in Abuja with the National Chairman expected to emerge from the North Central zone.
Umahi is said to be interested to have one of his loyalist occupy the position, as part of measures to strengthen his presidential ambition.
It is not known if Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State will back a candidate for the position, as there are no indications if he is behind the ambition of two APC chieftains from his State who have signaled interest in the contest.
They are Senator Osita Izunaso, one time national organizing secretary of the party and Batos Nwadike, an aide of the Governor.
