*Groups, Stakeholders In Owerri Zone Drum Support For Bizman*
Billionaire businessman, Prince (Dr) Alex Mbata has become the beautiful bride of Owerri zone, as several groups and key stakeholders in the zone, continue to drum support for the Philantropist, as the good people of the zone awaits his official declaration for Senate.
Mbata, whose Foundation, PAM, last December, unveiled the largest empowerment programme in Imo State, which over 3,000 persons benefitted in Owerri zone, has emerged the leading contender for Owerri zone APC Senatorial ticket, even before his official declaration for the contest.
The 50 year old business mogul had during a parley with media executives in Owerri in January, said he will at the appropriate time speak on his next political move.
With political activities in the State and in the country gradually heating up, Prince Mbata has again come on the spotlight, with various groups and key stakeholders in Owerri zone and beyond, re-echoing their call on the light skinned businessman cum politician, to step out and represent the zone at the Senate.
Owerri Zone Policy Roundtable, a group of professionals in the zone, in a statement on Thursday in Owerri and signed by Hon. Collins Iwenobi, assured Dr. Mbata of support.
“Dr.Mbata has proved to be a successful businessman and has attained commanding heights in various sectors of the nation’s economy.

“We want him to replicate such success for Owerri zone in the Senate.
“He is a classical example of being tested and trusted. And we entrust him with the task of representing Owerri zone in the Senate.
“It’s a simple narrative. Having proved his mettle in the business world, it means he posses what it takes to excel in the political turf, by going to the Senate to represent the good people of Owerri zone.
“His aspiration will gladden the hearts of the people of Owerri zone, who have over the years, yearned and craved for someone who has credentials of success. Prince Mbata, certainly has credentials of success.
“His several humanitarian deeds such as the recent empowerment programme in December 2021, worth millions of naira and which thousands of Owerri zone people benefitted from, is a reflection of the fact that he has the interest, well being and welfare of the people of the zone at heart.
“His antecedents speak for him. He performed creditably when he was Pro Chancellor of Imo State University, Owerri and we remember vividly his contributions to the infrastructural development of the State, when he built a 3km road in the heart of Owerri.
“Seeing is believing, and we have seen what Prince Mbata has done and we are convinced that he will do more when he gets to the Senate” the statement stated.
Another socio political group, Ala Owerri United Front, AUOF, also called on Prince Mbata to join the Senatorial race for Owerri Zone, and assured him of support.
Bernard Uba, leader of the group, had told newsmen, that “Dr. Mbata has proved beyond reasonable doubt, that he is fit, capable and qualified to represent Owerri zone in the Red Chambers of the Senate in 2023

“As a private citizen, what he has done as a non public office holder, has surpassed what some of those in public office are doing.
“Governor Hope Uzodimma had at PAM empowerment programme held at the Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square, Owerri, on December 16, 2021, attested to the good deeds of Prince Alex Mbata, when he advised public office holders to emulate his good works for humanity and for his people.
“We call Prince Mbata Mr. Evidence, because we have seen evidence of what he has done and what he is capable of doing.
“And this should be the yardstick to asses those who want to represent us in the Senate.
“He is an epitome of humility, focused and resilient who can give Owerri Zone a strong voice at the Senate” Uba declared.
