2023: APC Chieftain, Anyanwu Gives Damning Verdict On PDP, Says ‘Party On Extinction In Imo’

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is on the verge of extinction in Imo State.

This was disclosed by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the State, Hon Bernard Anyanwu.

Anyanwu said the party is on a cliffhanger and its journey to perdition in the State will begin when it loses the State and National Assembly elections to be held in 2023.

“It will be the funeral of the party, the beginning of the extinction of the PDP in Imo State, if the National Assembly elections in 2023 does not go its way” he said.

He continued “Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, had predicted that the PDP will not survive in Nigeria, if it fails to win the 2019 Presidential election.

“This is somewhat applicable to Imo State. If the party fails to make an impact in the NASS elections to be held before the guber election, which may hold a year later, it will be end of the road for the party in the State”

The APC chieftain said the PDP in Imo State has been struggling to regain power after the Supreme Court had sacked Emeka Ihedioha as governor and replaced him with Senator Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

He stated “Despite undergoing internal revival and seemingly energized with the emergence of one of its own, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, as National Secretary of the party, the party in Imo State still hangs on a cliffhanger.

“After its 2019 governorship success and the Supreme Court verdict that later sacked the party from power, it has been unable to win three elections held in the State thereafter, losing all the polls to the All Progressives Congress.

“They are: Okigwe North House of Reps seat, the Okigwe senatorial election and recently, the Ngor Okpala State Assembly election.

“These electoral losses are indicators of a gradual decline of the party and an emerging signal that it may not be able to repeat its 2019 electoral success in 2023 in the State.
