There are concerns that aspirants for the positions of National Vice Chairman (South East) and Zonal, Special citizen micro zoned to Imo State are unknown.

11 positions were zoned to the All Progressives Congress, APC in the South East ahead of the party’s National Convention scheduled to hold in Abuja on March 26.

Of the 11 positions, Ebonyi State secured the posts of Zonal Secretary and National Treasurer.

Abia State was allocated the positions of National Welfare Secretary and Zonal Youth Leader, while Enugu State got the position of Zonal Woman Leader and Deputy National Chairman (South).

Anambra State is expected to produce the party’s Deputy National Organizing Secretary and Zonal Organizing Secretary.

According to reports, the sharing arrangement was endorsed by Governors Hope Uzodimma and Dave Umahi of Imo and Ebonyi States, Chairman, APC South East Zonal Committee, Senator Ken Nnamani and Nkem Okeke, immediate past Deputy Governor of Anambra State.

However, reports reaching this newspaper indicate that Governor Hope Uzodimma, may be keeping close to his chest his anointed aspirants or preferred choices for the posts of National Vice Chairman (South East) and Zonal Special Citizen micro zoned to the State.

Before the zoning of party offices by the APC leadership, some APC stalwarts in Imo State, including some aides of the Governor who had anticipated that the South East may bag the post of National Secretary of the party were reported to be eying the National Secretaryship position of the party.

It is unclear if they have switched their aspirations to the two slots allocated to Imo State in the new zoning arrangement.

It could not be ascertained from the APC Secretariat in Abuja those from Imo State who bought Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms for the two positions.

However, there are reports that in line with the consensus option advocated by President Buhari for all positions ahead of the convention, Imo State may come up with consensus candidates for the two positions a day before the National Convention.
