Business Mogul, Alex Mbata, Friday, officially joined the race to represent Owerri zone at the senate, vowing to ensure a focused, robust, dynamic, purposeful, selfless and people driven representation.
Mbata, who addressed party faithful and stakeholders at the State Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Owerri, where he made his official declaration, also unveiled his mission to the senate.
He promised “to move the zone away from lackluster representation and to be a strong, clear and sincere voice in the senate in order to promote and defend the interest and heritage of Owerri people through introduction of bills, motions and other necessary oversight functions”
Mbata promised “to network, through personal and cooperate contacts and clouts, opportunities that will add greater values to people of Owerri zone. To achieve during and after my tenure, a new Owerri zone, everyone will be happy and proud of
Mbata, a philanthropist of note, said part of his work-plan if elected as a Senator, is “to initiate in consultations and collaborations with all critical stakeholders and relevant bodies, bills, motions and ideas that will greatly impact positively on our zone, state and Nation. I will ensure that the zone is not neglected in the scheme of things in the State and Nation.
He added “to establish an effective and workable office in order to make the work easier and for our people to add their voices and relate with their senator
Mbata, who recalled his several empowerment programme, which has impacted positively on youths and women, promised to do more if elected to senate.
“I will empower and develop our youths for sustainable productivity and to quarterly support our mothers’ financially in their various businesses” he said.
As part of his oversight functions as a Senator, Mbata promised to “explore and exploit opportunities in all viable areas of government and agencies for the attraction of infrastructural, human and capital developments to our zone, like roads, schools, hospitals/Health Centres as well as employment of our youths.
He pledged to be loyal to the party and “at all time support Hos Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, in all areas to develop our dear State”
In his remarks, the Chairman, APC in Imo State, Mac Donald Ebere, commended Mbata for his declaration, stating that the APC will shop for a winnable candidate.
Eminent personalities who graced the event include member, North East Development Commission, TOE Ekechi, former Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Godfrey Dikeocha, Commissioner for Power, Mrs Ann Dozie, former Commissioner for Lands, Enyinnaya Onuegbu, MD ,ISOAPDEC, Charles Orie, IMC Chairman, Owerri Municipal, Ambrose Nkwodimma.
Others are Willie Amadi, Paddy Obinna, Chief Henry Njoku (Harritex), Hon Dan Iwuorie, Hon Steve Ahaneku, Mrs Jennifer Oguzie, Chima Anozie (Home Base), among others.
