Despite the declaration for the presidency by Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and later, Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, a serving Minister from the South East, looks favoured for the APC Presidential ticket.

INNONEWS had reported exclusively, recently that a serving Minister from the South East is on the radar of some powerful forces for the party’s presidential ticket.

A source privy to ongoing undercurrents in the party said nothing has changed despite the declaration of intent for the presidency by Vice President Yemi Osibanjo and Rotimi Amaechi.

“Osibanjo and Amaechi have added new dimensions to the contest, but when the choice of the President is unveiled, there will be a political earthquake in the APC.

“It is going to be a shocker. A serving Minister from the South East, whom Nigerians know for his calm disposition is the anointed one and is very much considered by key players, power brokers even outside the party.

“Recall the President had said his choice of successor will shock Nigerians.

When he unveils his choice, the equation will change” the source said.

President Buhari had opted for consensus to elect the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu and members of the National Working Commitee, NWC of the party.

It is expected that the same consensus method may be used to select the party’s presidential candidate to hold before the end of May.

Other aspirants who have indicated interest in the party’s presidential ticket are Former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu, Former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi and Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.
