– SAYS: I HAVE NO GODFATHER; GOD IS MY FATHER

By IKEM OBIOHA

At the dusk of Easter Sunday, a frontline PDP aspirant for Ideato North Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Franklin Ngoforo, was sighted at St. Michael’s Catholic Parish, Urualla, weeping before the Blessed Sacrament.

According to an eyewitness, the aspirant, who knelt before the altar in tears, had his party’s nomination and expression of interest forms with him to the amazement of other persons who came to the holy place for prayers.

Speaking to the curious crowd who had besieged him when he walked away, a source within the church said Ngoforo lamented that the situation of things in Ideato North requires God’s urgent intervention.

“I began my life here in Urualla. I was a mass servant here, in this parish. I have a covenant with God to dedicate my entire life to alleviating the pains of our people. In my personal capacity, I have done that through my humanitarian foundation. Some of you know I have sent tens of Ideato North indigenes abroad for studies. Many others also have gotten start-up capital for trade. But alone, I cannot solve all the problems. That is the reason I chose this path, to represent Ideato North in the House of Assembly.

“When I remember how Ideato North was two decades ago, my heart bleeds. We were known for massive industrialization. Our farms could feed our people. Commercial activities in our land were unrivaled. However, many years of bad governance have destroyed everything. There is hardly any motorable road today in Ideato North. All the industries have collapsed. Commercial activities have now shifted to our Anambra neighbours like Ekwulobia and Umuchu, and children who were born sixteen years ago may not have seen electricity for once in Ideato North. This is shameful!

Continuing, he revealed: “I brought these issues before God today. I have no godfather. God is my father. We need a turnaround in Ideato North. We need a Godly, responsible, informed and altruistic representation. We must break old habits in our politics if we must grow. As I begin this journey, I am guided by one principle: to end the misery and mass affliction in Ideato North, and all I ask of the Lord is to use me to make our land yield again,” he said.
