Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has said there is nothing called unknown gunmen, stating that the resurgence of insecurity in the state are fueled by opposition elements afraid of the successes recorded by his administration.

Governor Uzodimma who spoke at the Imo State Government House Chapel on Sunday, appreciated Imolites for their support to his administration, and reaffirmed that his actions will not disappoint them.

He stated that intelligence and surveillance reports are available, assuring that government will continue to track the criminals and their political sponsors who are supposedly respected.

“We are tracking them and also being careful of shedding blood but the people we are dealing with are mindless criminals beheading innocent people, burning down Police Stations and Local Governments but we are on them and above all, the God of Justice will not let them go free”. he stated.

Governor Uzodimma however said that “soon government will identify and separate those using the name of IPOB to perpetuate crime from those who are actual criminals, kidnappers and armed robbers.”

He noted that “citizens have the right to criticize government objectively, but not to take life and burn down government institutions and individual houses in the name of opposition or in any guise.”

The Governor reiterated that the priority of his government now is to recover and rehabilitate broken down infrastructure in the State and to restore back confidence of the people on the activities of government “as a way of assuring respect for government.”
