A former Majority Leader of Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Lugard Osuji, has signaled his intention to return to the State legislature on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.

Osuji was first elected to the House of Assembly in 2015, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

He however sought re-election 2019 on the platform of the Action Alliance, AA.

Addressing a mammoth crowd of indigenes and non indigenes in Owerri, who converged at the ancestral Owerri Hall to receive him, Osuji after given a pass-mark by APGA Screening Committee to partake in the Party’s forthcoming Primaries, said he decided to answer the patriotic call to serve the good people of Owerri Municipal in legislative capacity and to promote APGA, his new political party.

According to him, his purpose of seeking a return to the House of Assembly is to effectively, efficiently and selflessly serve his Constituency and Imo State, as well as promote his party by delivering purposeful, result driven and impactful legislative representation.

He promised to give Owerri Municipal an an all inclusive representation and make both indigenes and non indigenes in the municipality enjoy a deserving sense of belonging in the affairs of the Constituency and in the State.

According to a statement by his SA, Media, Chukwuemeka Ibe, which was made available to INNONEWS, Hon Osuji, during his four years stay in the House, “sponsored and passed over 98 impactful bills and motions, as against 3 bills and 8 motions passed by his predecessor and successor respectively”

“It took Lugard Osuji to go to the Imo State House of Assembly for his Constituency’s long quest for the creation of more autonomous communities in Owerri Municipal to be achieved.

“Aside the creation of 5 autonomous communities, he ensured that 7 administrative areas for non indigenes were also established for administrative convenience and for the Constituency to gain more economically, politically and so on”

“Notwithstanding the deliberate politicization and trivialization of this rewarding initiative by opponents who chose to misinform the public that he divided Owerri, today, everyone has realized and are now appreciating the benefits. What is undeniable is that Owerri municipal now gains more than what used to be. For instance, when local government election took place in Imo state on community basis in 2018, the constituency produced 12 Councillors as against 11 since there was increase in the number of autonomous communities and administrative areas” part of the statement stated.
