The Divine Mandate Movement (DMM), has accused a former Governor of Imo State of sponsoring Ikenga Ugochinyere, a House of Representatives aspirant in the State, to blackmail the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.
Ugochinyere, who is the spokesman of Conference of United Political Parties, CUPP, had called for the removal of Anyanwu as National Secretary of the PDP, on the basis that he was expelled from the party.
He spoke on the backdrop of the Ward delegate Congress of the party held last Saturday in the State.
Speaking to newsmen in Owerri, Tuesday, the Director General, DDM, Prof Nathan Uzoma, said Ikenga is acting on the promptings of a former Governor “to blackmail our National Secretary with fictitious allegations”
He said “this innocuous and repulsive behavior of one man (former Governor) led to the mass exit of PDP members to the ruling APC, not until our National Secretary started reaching out to aggrieved members and leaders, begging them to rejoin our party. Thank God, we are currently having a full house”
He continued “On the allegation that our National Secretary was expelled from the party by his Ward Chairman,We consider this as a bogus lie from the pit of hell, and state that at no time was our National Secretary expelled from PDP, apart from some individuals who were used to execute a failed coup against party leaders as if, PDP in Imo State is their personal business”
Prof Protus further warned that “any desperate individual on a mission to create crisis in our party to desist forthwith, or be meted with our party’s disciplinary action”
He also called for Ikenga Ugochinyere’s disqualification from contesting on the platform of the PDP over his uncultured behaviour.
“Our eminent members of the National Working Committee (NWC) led by his Excellency, Senator Iyorchia Ayu are appealed to, to discipline Ikenga Ugochinyere for dragging our party and it’s leaders to public ridicule and as well disqualify him from contesting over this uncultured behaviour”
The DDM DG stated that “it is worthy of note that as members and leaders of PDP in Imo State, we have watched keenly, the leadership performances of our National Secretary, and resolved that he remains the best in galvanizing our party for onward victory in 2023”
