The South East Coalition for Good Governance, SECG, has cautioned presidential aspirants from the South East not to accept Vice Presidential slot from any aspirant from the North.
This is as speculations became rife that former Anambra State Governor and PDP presidential aspirant, Peter Obi, may emerge Vice Presidential candidate to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, in the event the latter emerges the presidential flag-bearer of the PDP.
The former Anambra State Governor was Atiku’s deputy in the 2019 Presidential election.
SECG in a statement signed by its spokesman, Emmanuel Okwu and made available to INNONEWS in Awka, said “presidential aspirants from the South- East should resist the greek gift of a Vice Presidential slot from any Northern presidential aspirant.
“They should keep their eyes on the ball and never lose sight of it
“Presidential aspirants from the South East should resist and reject any offer to play a second fiddle. By God’s grace, a Nigerian President of South East extraction will emerge in 2023.
The Coalition called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to zone their presidential tickets to the South, particularly the South East, on the basis of equity and justice.
“The people of the South East are no second class citizens in Nigeria. We deserve the number one job in the country and it is proper that having supported other zones to produce the nation’s President in the past, we equally deserve to be supported to achieve same feat this time” the statement stated.
