Top Owerri Zone leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Sunday drummed support for APC Owerri Zone Senatorial aspirant, Prince Alex Mbata, in his bid to emerge the candidate of the party ahead of the Primary.
Chief Henry Njoku (Harritex), Willie Amadi and Barr Chima Anozie (Home Base), were among party leaders who addressed APC faithful and delegates drawn from the nine local governments.
The event took place at the PAM campaign office in Owerri, Imo State capital.
Chief Njoku enumerated the qualities of Prince Alex Mbata, urging delegates to vote for him during the primary.
He said “For over 25 years, Prince Alex Mbata has been empowering indigent people especially within Owerri zone single-handedly. We begged him to come out for Senate having seen goodness, fortune and assets in him and he agreed.
“Let delegates consider him. He is the most qualified for the position. Vote for him to emerge victorious in the primary election.
In his remarks, Barr Chima Anozie (Home Base) drummed support for Prince Mbata, describing him as credible and competent for the job of representing Owerri zone in the Senate. He called on party delegates to also for vote him as the APC Senatorial candidate for Owerri Zone.
A chieftain of the APC in Owerri Zone, Willie Amadi, also eulogized Prince Mbata, saying he posses the qualities and capacity to represent the zone in the Senate. He called on party delegates to give him the required support.
In his speech, Prince Mbata called on party delegates to elect him as the APC Senatorial candidate for Owerri Zone, vowing not to disappoint the people of the zone.
“I will not fail you, I will not disappoint you. I will give Owerri Zone quality and effective representation” he told the cheering delegates.
