Araraume’s Son Loses Senate Bid

Ifeanyi Araraume (Jnr) has lost the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Okigwe zone (Imo North) senatorial ticket to Emmanuel Okewulonu.

Ifeanyi (Jnr) is the son of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Araraume Jnr had dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, where he declared interest in the zone’s senatorial seat.

His father, Senator Araraume had last year lost the APC Okigwe zone senatorial ticket to less fancied Frank Ibezim, who later won the bye election to replace Late Benjamin Uwajumuogu, at the Senate.

In the primary election held on Thursday, May 26, Araraume Jnr polled 61 votes to lose the PDP Okigwe zone senatorial ticket to Okewulonu, who got 132 votes.

In Okigwe South Federal Constituency, Hon Jones Okeke won the PDP ticket, while a former member of House of Representatives, Hon Obinna Onwubuariri secured the party’s ticket for Okigwe North Federal Constituency.
