Okorocha Remains In EFCC Custody, As Court Declines Ex Gov Bail Request

Former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, has been denied bail by the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Justice Inyang Ekwo, on Friday, declined to compel the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to release on bail the Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District in the Senate.

Okorocha had filed an ex- parte application anchoring his bail request on the basis, that he is a presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, arguing that his political ambition would be jeopardized if not granted bail.

The Judge in his brief ruling said he was not inclined to grant his bail application, and ordered the former Governor to put the Federal Government on notice to come and defend his detention.

Okorocha was arrested by the EFCC on May 24 in Abuja after several hours of resisting arrest.
