The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Imo State is expected to hold primaries for various elective offices on Wednesday, May 25.

The Primary exercise earlier scheduled for Sunday did not hold.

The build up to the Primaries in the party has been fraught with crisis with fierce altercations which had trailed the 3 man Ad Hoc Delegates Election.

In a letter seen by this newspaper on Tuesday and addressed to the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and signed by the party’s National Chairman and National Secretary, Iyorchia Ayu and Samuel Anyanwu, stated that there will be primary elections to elect State House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senatorial candidates of the party in Imo, Anambra and Ebonyi States on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.

According to the letter, “due to the challenging security situation and sit at home order, the scheduled ward Congress in Imo, Anambra and Ebonyi States for the purpose of electing 3 Ad hoc delegates could not hold and new dates are now fixed”

The 3 man as hoc delegates election in Imo, Anambra and Ebonyi States will now hold on Tuesday, May 24.

Last week, the party in the State had announced stipends which aspirants are to pay to delegates during Primaries.
