Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, has become the 24th Presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

There were speculations in the media last week that Lawan will join the presidential contest.

On Monday, Lawan’s  friends and associates led by Chief Sam Nkire, a member of the National Assembly and 15 other Senators, purchased his expression of interest and nomination forms of the APC.  

With the Senate President’s entry into the race, he joins Kogi and Jigawa States Governors, Yahaya Bello and Abubakar Badaru as the two presidential aspirants from the North in the APC.

Others are from the South.

Some of the key presidential aspirants in the APC from the South who would jostle for the party’s presidential ticket, include Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu, Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi.
