The ambition of business mogul, Prince Alex Mbata, to emerge candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Owerri zone, received a major boost,at the weekend, when leaders and stakeholders of the party in Ezinihitte and Ahiazu Mbaise, gave thumps up to his aspiration.
Several political leaders in the party in the two local governments spoke eloquently on Mbata’s contributions to the good and development of Owerri zone in his personal capacity, expressing hope that he will do more for the zone if elected as Senator.
A former member House of Representatives who represented Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Mbaise Federal Constituency and a statutory delegate, Hon Nnanna Igbokwe endorsed Mbata as the next Senator of Owerri Zone.
He said Mbata has the interest of the people of the zone at heart and will do more for the zone when elected as Senator.
“Permit me to call you the next Senator of Owerri zone. Alex Mbata has the most organized campaign structure and this shows that he will be well organized when he gets to the Senate. His humility, his sense of composure and philantrophy are second to none.
“He has the interest to lift the people of Owerri Senatorial District from penury and I believe PAM will not forget us. Therefore, we beg you not to forget the youth, women and most importantly, attract Federal Government to come and tackle the gully erosion that has cut off Ihitte- Ubi from the rest of Ahiazu Mbaise
In his speech, a chieftain of the party in Ezinihitte Mbaise, Chief Chris Ogonos Okoro, popularly called Agbarahurugbuookuko, said Prince Mbata will receive the support of the people of Ezinihitte Mbaise.
“We will support you because we know you and know what you can do for the people of Owerri zone when you are elected as their Senator. We are proud of you and we know that you will be a strong voice for the people of Owerri zone at the Senate.
“I m confident and hopeful that you will give Owerri zone good representation. He is a good man and I can vouch that if he gets to the Senate, he will live up to expectations. He will secure for the zone what rightly belongs to the people of the zone” he said
Several APC stakeholders in Ezinihitte and Ahiazu Mbaise, such as Hon.Peter Onu, Hon Ethelbert Ugwu, drummed support for Prince Mbata.
