Former Imo State Chairman Of defunct Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party, ANRP, Mr Chibuike Nwachukwu Oziri, has expressed shock over the death of the party’s 2019 Imo State governorship candidate, Prof Alphonsus Ekwerike.
In a statement in Abuja and signed by Mr. Nwachukwu, he said the loss of Prof Ekwerike was a blow to the party, to his community, to the good people of Imo State and to the nation at large
“We received the news of the Prof Alphonsus Ekwerike with shock.
“He was a man of many parts, an intellectual giant, a scientist of repute, a notable Professor, who made useful contributions to our great party, to his community,to the State and to the nation.
“He was also an accomplished scientist who demonstrated passion in his chosen field of endeavour.
“Prof Ekwerike was not only an asset to our party, but a man of impeccable character, a fine gentleman whose contributions to national development, through his scientific works will never go unnoticed.
“On behalf of ANRP family, we commiserate with the Ekwerike family on this painful loss and urge them to bear the loss with fortitude” the statement stated.
Prof Alphonus Ekwerike, a Harvard trained Scientist died on February 24, 2022.
