PDP Shuns South East, Unveils Gov Okowa As Atiku’s Running Mate

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has unveiled Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, as running mate of the party’s presidential candidate and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

Okowa is from the South- South geo political zone.

This leaves the South East zone in the cooler, as attempts by former Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha and former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, to be considered as Atiku’s running mate, hit the rocks.

Okowa’s emergence is contrary to reports that Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has been selected as Vice Presidential candidate, by a special panel constituted by the party.

Unveiling Okowa as his deputy, Atiku Abubakar, said Okowa personifies the potential to succeed him.

He said he held wide consultations which informed his choice of Gov Okowa, stating that he is the ideal person to enable him achieve his vision for the country.
