Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a former Governor of Kano State and Presidential flag-bearer of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, has confirmed that he is in talks with his Labour party counterpart, Peter Obi
He told BBC Hausa Service that a committee has been set up to co- ordinate the talks.
“We are really talking to Peter Obi, or at least saying that the committee is working to look into the matter (and cooperate with him), and friends and family are coming to talk to us about it.” Kwankwaso said
Kwankwaso and Obi are speculated to be exploring the possibility of co- operation or possible merger between the NNPP and the LP ahead of the 2023 general elections.
He noted that their collaboration became pertinent after the All Progressives Congress, APC and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, failed to field presidential candidates from the South East zone.
